Malaysia being the largest producer of palm oil in the world, naturally looks into the utilisation of this commodity in the downstream process. With encouragement from the government, at present fifteen manufacturers in the country are producing from simple distillation acids to fractionated products like lauric and myristic acids as well as fatty alcohol. Utilising full capacity, the total production in Malaysia is expected to reach 950, 000 metric tons per year.
